Samsung, HTC, Facebook – a number of large corporations have already joined the crypto world.
With Apple, another player could enter the big business of Internet money.
At least this is what Apple’s vice president for Apple Pay, Jennifer Bailey, said when she made her first statement about crypto currencies.
“We’re monitoring crypto currencies.”
Apple has been represented in the financial world with its Apple Pay payment service since 2014. The service is now officially available in over 50 countries.
iPhone users have also been able to apply for an Apple Card in the USA for a month now.
Could the iGroup now also enter the crypto business?
It’s possible, “we’re monitoring crypto currencies,” Bailey told CNBC in an interview. In addition to data security, privacy and the Apple Card, crypto currencies are also on the group’s agenda – albeit for a later date.
We believe that there is “interesting long-term potential” in Internet money, which has been known for two years, “but we are focusing [currently] on what consumers use today”.
Apple has not been involved in any crypto project so far, and the Apple Pay Co-Chef’s comments on digital money are the first to come out.
Regarding what apps can be created with regard to crypto currency, Bailey hinted that systems based on QR codes would be used.
First smartphones for crypto currencies
It is already known that Apple is striving to expand its business areas and penetrate into various areas.
For months now, it has not been possible to generate satisfactory sales with the popular iPhone.
The reason for this is a saturated market and strong competition from China. This company is not only bringing powerful smartphones onto the market, but has already integrated systems in its devices that support crypto currencies.
Samsung, for example, recently released Galaxy Note 10 for sale, which provides enhanced support for the Klaytn blockchain platform.
HTC also plans to launch a second Blockchain smartphone later this year, which will be more than just a Bitcoin Wallet. It will act as a Bitcoin Node and will have a complete copy of the blockchain.
